Senior / Principal Power Electronics R&D Engineer – Automotive

You will be joining a world-leading technology company at their lab in Nuremberg.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal & external stakeholders to identify & refine requirements & formulate system specifications within Digital Power Business application domains.
• Contribute to the development of technology roadmaps for next-generation products in the Digital Power product portfolio, focusing on areas like EV Powertrain, Motor Control Unit, & Battery Chargers.
• Assist in defining power packages & exploring next-generation power module technologies.
• Drive the development of innovative Power Conversion architectures & converter typologies.
• Take charge of parameter design, component layout, prototype construction, & subsequent verification & validation of converter concepts in R&D laboratories.
• Provide mentorship & guidance to less experienced team members.
• Present & defend ideas & solutions in product line presentations.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, automotive technology, or equivalent field, with relevant experience in the automotive sector (OEM or Tier 1 supplier).
• Thorough theoretical understanding of fundamental power electronic converter principles, magnetic component designs, power semiconductor devices, & power converter control.
• Demonstrated success in product development & release.
• Hands-on experience in building & verifying power converter prototypes.
• Proven capability in analyzing, designing, simulating, & verifying key design parameters in power converter technologies, including power loss analysis, semiconductor selection, magnetic component design, PCB design, & modulation techniques.
• Possess a high level of self-reliance & autonomy, with a target-oriented work style & a proactive “can-do” attitude.
• Willingness to learn new concepts & think creatively.
• Occasional travel may be required for ongoing projects.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision & remain flexible & composed when facing challenges.
• Proficient in written & spoken English, serving as the primary working language.
