Speech Machine Learning Researcher
A leading Amsterdam-based research center is at the forefront of artificial intelligence and machine learning innovation. They are dedicated to developing cutting-edge technologies that revolutionize how people interact with information and enhance productivity across various sectors. Their team of experts is committed to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in AI, and they are looking for talented individuals to join them on this exciting journey.
This is a 12 month contract position with potential to extend, visas can be considered.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research in affective computing, focusing on emotion recognition from speech and expressive text-to-speech synthesis in AI systems.
- Develop innovative algorithms and models to improve the accuracy and efficiency of emotion detection from multimodal data, while enhancing the richness of emotions in synthesized speech.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate affective computing technologies into real-world applications, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of engineering requirements like low latency.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in affective computing, machine learning, and related fields.

Requirements
- Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and data analysis tools.
- Solid understanding of signal processing, natural language processing, or related areas.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex ideas clearly.

Bonus requirements
- Proven track record of research publications in relevant conferences and journals.
- Experience with multimodal data analysis.
- Experience with state-of-the-art speech recognition and/or text-to-speech algorithms.
- Familiarity with human-computer interaction (HCI) principles.
- Previous involvement in interdisciplinary research projects.
- Knowledge of ethical considerations in affective computing.
